about Shopgirl, which I actually liked except for the weirdest, most illogical direction and cinematography I've seen in a long time. Which made the incredibly beautiful and indisputably youthful Claire Danes look...old and dead. A big thing not to like, I know.

I totally agree. I also had a problem with the fact that Steve Martin both starred in and narrated the film. I know he wrote the novella and it's his baby, but...it was overkill for me.
