It depends on what the meaning of "everybody" is

Here's an 'I Don't Believe it' Item

Everybody agrees that Malcolm Gladwell's book "Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking" was one of the brightest spots in the 2005 literary world.

But how in tarnation do they plan to make a movie from it?

In November, Gladwell optioned the film rights to Universal Pictures.

According to Publishers Weekly, Stephen Gaghan, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of "Traffic" has been retained to write and direct, as well as co-produce, the film.

Leonardo deCaprio is another co-producer.

Totally fascinating. I heard a review of the book and thought to myself, no thanks. The prose sounded precious and the research specious. And not historical enough. However, the idea of a movie intrigues me. I’d argue that all movies are, in one way or another, “about” the ways in which we imagine consciousness to work in particular times and places … so making a film explicitly about this … it’s been done before and well and will be done again. I’m sure this will be no La Jetee, but I’m actually a big DiCaprio fan (and I think The Aviator was a fairly good film about a very particular, historical, model of consciousness) … so, like I said, I’m intrigued.

i can understand how one could make a movie based on the idea of snap judgments and their far-reaching ramifications, but i doubt the plot of whatever comes out is going to follow blink to the letter. maybe he had to sign off on specific parts of it to be translated into scene form. if it were my project, though, i think i’d give more creative control to tom tykwer than leonardo dicaprio, since he handles this material so well.
