—I do—and some people really love Galway Kinnell, like this woman here.
In other news, have you heard about the the Baby Daddy Theory of Poetic Influence?
Meanwhile, via Mike Lynch, a cartoonist named Roy Delgado has so far submitted 19,000 cartoons to The New Yorker (by his estimate), all rejected.
Hello! We're a small band of media enthusiasts, culture addicts, and journalists based in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Emdashes, formerly a New Yorker fan site, is our collection of conversations—mostly civilized—about magazines, movies, politics, design, punctuation, and other things that stir us.
You'd like to know more about the writers and artists and what our column titles mean? We live to serve!
We welcome tips, questions, comments, and corrections, and are always on the lookout for ardent, obsessive new contributors. Click here to email us.
We host occasional book giveaways. Publishers, please email us for our postal address.
Dashes, some say, “are particularly useful in a sentence that is long and complex.” Emdashes—like an em dash itself—provides a thoughtful pause amid the hubbub.
Emdashes, founded in 2004, is written and drawn by Emily Gordon, Martin Schneider, Pollux, Jonathan Taylor, and Benjamin Chambers, as well as occasional guest contributors. All posts before October 2008 are by Emily Gordon.
The site was designed by House of Pretty with illustrations by Jesse R. Ewing.
Additional drawings are by Carolita Johnson and Pollux (author of our web comic, "The Wavy Rule"). The Emdashes pencil logo is by Jennifer Hadley, based on a 1943 Dorothy Gray ad.

Speaking of which, that new book of
rejected New Yorker cartoons is out in the
stores now. I hope you will be reviewing
it soon. I think it is put out by Diffee.
Want to review it, Bruce? Seriously. I’ll get you a copy.
Slight Correction on Mike Lynch’s blog . . My cartoons that appear on a regular basis in Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, Barrons, Readers Digest, Good Housekeeping, First for Women, Womans World, Medical Economics, The Writer, The National Law Journal, Business Law Today, American Legion, Hemispheres The Magazine of United Airways, etc, etc. and the new book: NATIONAL LAMPOONS FAVORITE CARTOONS OF THE 21st CENTURY, where I’m prominently featured, are ALL NEW YORKER REJECTED CARTOONS.
The title is really: THE WORLD’S MOST REJECTED CARTOONIST FROM ONE MAGAZINE ( WHO SUPPOSEDLY BUY FREELANCE CARTOONS FROM THE OPEN MARKET ) WHO HAS SUBMITTED REGULARLY AND TIMELY AND WITHOUT INTERRUPTION AND CONTINUES TO GET REJECTED.
The interesting thing is that 99% of the REGULAR CARTOONISTS
who appear in the above magazines are ALL NEW YORKER CARTOONISTS!
I WILL BE IN THE NEW YORKER. . if I have to BUY CONDE NASTE.
I’m addicted to emdashes, what a wonderful site to NEW YORKER LOVERS. GREAT JOB YOU DO!
Roy Delgado
If I DO buy it, I better learn how to spell CONDE NAST !
