Sigh. You said it.

Has there ever been a big box-office hit that was more in tune with socialism or the labor movement than Modern Times? The whole movie was about acquiring something to eat.

Paul, this is very sad (and I like the machinery a lot).

I just saw Modern Times in the theater a year or two ago. In the audience were a 100-year-old man (take my word for it!) and a 5-year-old child, both having a swell time. There was something comforting about that, in movie-loving terms, at least.
