Two comments, first a request perhaps Martin
can help me out with. When searching the archives
of the NYer online, is it possible to search for
a particular issue by month? ie: January 3, 2005?
i can’t figure out how to do this. Thanks in
advance.

Second, the millions blog has lots of great
New Yorker information. The editor has done two
years of week by week surveys of each piece
of fiction in each issue. Plus one of his friends did a tabulation in excel of the different writers who have been published (short fiction) in the
magazine over a period of years. So he can say
how many times Munro has appeared, etc. His findings are very interesting.
Thanks..keep up the good work!

Excellent question! It seems that a search of this type yields decent results…

site:archives.newyorker.com “Jun 09, 2008” innovation

Pop that into Google and see what comes out. Not perfect, but fairly good!

As for your other comment, we’re big fans and friends of The Millions and both read and pick up their links regularly. I believe we did a post about that spreadsheet — I may be wrong. I’ll be sure to post an update here if I find it.

Thanks for reading and keep writing in!

Thanks for the tip on searching, I’ll give it
a try.
